  • The poster grid only builds the posters on screen, so big libraries open, scroll, search and switch tabs much faster. Scrolling eases to a stop.
  • A small ring in your accent colour shows wherever something is still loading: posters, Psycho tiles, reactions and the YouTube player.
  • A Restart button on the player, and a Restart button on the message when a film picks up where you left off.
  • Choose the quality for YouTube videos, from 360p to 4K. The button shows what's actually playing.

Installing

  1. Download the installer and run it. Windows may ask you to confirm, because new apps from small makers aren't widely known to Windows yet.
  2. Open Soda Screen from the Start menu.
  3. Add your film and TV folders in Settings. The Guide takes it from there.

Updates

New versions are listed on the History page. Your library, settings and artwork are kept in their own folder, so updating never touches them.

Uninstalling

Remove Soda Screen from Settings > Apps in Windows. Your films are never touched. To remove its saved details and artwork too, delete %LocalAppData%\Soda Screen.

Is it safe?

Soda Screen doesn't collect anything about you, has no accounts and doesn't upload your files. It only talks to TMDB, IMDb's dataset server and YouTube to fetch the details you see. The Why page explains where everything comes from.
